1968 presidential campaign slogans, printed on all republican campaign material.
richard nixon won the 1968 presidential elections. 'nixon's the one' is also the title of a record with excerpts from nixon's 1968 nomination acceptance speech mailed on a massive scale to homes in order to gather support for the election.
After Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated, and after Lyndon B. Johnson dropped out of the presidential race, the two main candidates left were Richard M. Nixon and Hubert Humphrey. Nixon decided that his running mate would be Spiro Agnew, the unheard of governor of Maryland. Nixon created a very good and tactical campaign team that helped him to mold his presidential campaign. they molded Nixon's presidential campaign around the major issues that the United States was facing at that time: crime in the streets, the perseverance of law and order, and putting an end to American presence in Vietnam. Even though he said he had a "special plan" for ending the war in Vietnam he did not reveal any details to the public. he used the radio to his advantage during his presidential campaign.

1972 presidential campaign slogan.
In 1971, President Nixon's approval rating fell below fifty percent. Despite his 1968 promises to end the Vietnam war, the conflict was dragging on. On the domestic front, inflation and unemployment were rising. Nixon restored his popularity in the election year through a carefully orchestrated series of actions. He made unprecedented diplomatic tours of China and Russia, stepped up efforts to end the war in Vietnam by ordering the bombing of Hanoi, instituted wage and price controls, and ended the military draft - a politically advantageous move given the recent lowering of the voting age from 21 to 18. Nixon's opponent, liberal South Dakota Senator George McGovern - who won his party's nomination with a remarkable grassroots campaign sparked by the antiwar movement - called for unilateral American withdrawal from Vietnam and a significant reduction in military spending. McGovern named as his running mate Missouri Senator Thomas Eagleton, who, shortly after the convention, revealed that he had been hospitalized for depression and had received shock therapy. At first, McGovern announced his "1,000 percent" support for Eagleton, but he went on to drop him from the ticket and replace him with former ambassador R. Sargent Shriver. The incident created an impression of ineptitude that plagued McGovern throughout the campaign. McGovern was also unable to convince the public of any connection between the Nixon administration and the June break-in at the Democratic National Committee headquarters in the Watergate apartment complex. therefore nixon was re-elected in 1972.

1960 presidential campaign slogan.in 1960 nixon also tried to become president of america. Senator Kennedy entered seven primaries and won all of the seven that he entered. His victory in West Virginia was particularly important, in that it showed that a Catholic could win in a state with not Catholic voters. Kennedy went into the Democratic convention of Los Angeles as the clear front runner. His superb organization guaranteed him the victory on the convention hall.
Vice President Nixon was nominated by the Republicans in Chicago.
Kennedy campaigned on the theme of getting the country moving again. He assailed the missile gap with the Russians, and denounced the Eisenhower administration for allowing a Communist regime to come to power in Cuba.
Nixon forbade his staff from bringing up the question of Kennedy's religion (Catholic), but the issue remained. The final analysis of the election showed that Kennedy's religion ended up helping him as opposed to hindering him. Nixon criticized Kennedy for his lack of experience.
The campaign included the first televised debates. In their first debate Kennedy came off the winner on TV (not to those who heard in on the radio) .
This gave Kennedy an edge. When Reverand Martin Luther King was arrested in Atlanta, Kennedy called to offer his sympathy. This garnered Kennedy substantial Black support. Towards the end of the race President Eisenhower began to campaign actively for Nixon. Kennedy won in a very close vote.
