the cuban adjustment act is an act in the immigration policy of the
america. It was signed on november 2nd, 1966 by president johnson. it states that cubans who fled from
cuba in the period from the cuban revolution until now and have been in the united states, mostly in
miami, for two years, may stay there and get an american passport. in 1996 the two year-period was reduced to one year. according to the cuban migration law it is forbidden to leave cuba without an official cuban visum. the cuban adjustment act was a strategic move of the united states to promote escaping cuba illegally.
