Japanese serial killer. ueda was sentenced to death in 2001 for murdering five people between 1992 and 1993. he was sentenced to death by the Osaka District Court after the police found the bodies of the people he had killed and buried based on his confessions. Ueda later withdrew his confessions, saying his confession "lacked credibility" because he had been forced to confess by the police. the higher court, however, rejected his claims during the latest trial.during the appeal, Ueda's lawyers argued that his death sentence should be reduced because the death penalty was "unconstitutional" and there was a "worldwide trend to abolish the death penalty." They added that the animal muscle relaxant that Ueda injected in his five victims was not a lethal dose, and said the motive prosecutors brought forward for the killings - wanting to test the muscle relaxant on humans - was insufficient as evidence.
Ueda was arrested in 1994, after the police found one of the five victims he had killed. He later confessed killing four others, whose bodies were subsequently found, and was convicted in the Osaka District Court in 1998.
A psychiatric evaluation was carried out on Ueda following his arrest, but he was not deemed to have any mental disorder that could allow him to escape responsibility for the killings. [many THANKS TO mary FOR PROVIDING THIS INFORMATION.]SEE ARCHIVES OF PAIN [phrases] ABOUT THE CONTENT OF THIS SONG.
