german filmmaker Werner Herzog (real name Werner H. Stipetic) was born in Munich on September 5, 1942. He grew up in a remote mountain village in Bavaria and never saw any films, television, or telephones as a child.
He started travelling on foot from the age of 14. He made his first phone call at the age of 17. During high school he worked the nightshift as a welder in a steel factory to produce his first films and made his first film in 1961 at the age of 19.herzog then wrote a screenplay that became his first feature film, lebenszeigen (Signs of Life, 1968). It went on to win the Bundesfilmpreis for Best Feature Film.
Since then, he has gone on to direct numerous work; exotic dramas that now form part of New German Cinema, and a number of documentaries. The reccuring messages within his films are those of the 'Outsider' and that of the 'Promethan' clash between man and nature. Herzog made 5 movies together with klaus kinski.the lyrics of forever delayed are inspired by Aguirre, der Zorn Gottes (Aguirre, Wrath of God), Werner Herzog's and klaus kinski's 1973 film about being trapped in the jungle. as nicky wire said: "We're trapped in our history, a recurring theme for us, we can't escape it".
