Controversial and aggressive American professional boxer. He was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1966. Tyson turned pro on March 6, 1985. From that point on, he set his sights on the heavyweight championship of the world. Finishing his first year with a record of 15-0, with 15 knockouts, Tyson's place at the top became more of a reality with each victory. Less than two years later after racking up 27 consecutive wins, Tyson signed to fight Trevor Berbick for the World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight title. On November 26, 1986, in less than six minutes in the ring, he was crowned heavyweight champion at the age of 20. On August 1, 1987, Tyson became the world heavyweight champion.
In 1991 Tyson was convicted of rape by an Indianapolis jury and sentenced to six years in prison. Serving his term at the Indiana Youth Center, Tyson's sentence was reduced because of good behaviour and he was released on March 25, 1995, after serving three years.
In 1997 he bit piece out of Evander Holyfield's ear during the match for the world title. He was sent back to jail after assaulting the driver of a car he had crashed into.
At the moment he is a free man and is working on his career although He was beaten by world champion Lennox Lewis. In 2002 Tyson attacked Lewis during a press conference.the line 'Tyson's money ain't as free as Junior Kennedy's' refers to the statement that in america black people are still being discriminated and less free than poltical correct white people like junior kennedy, who was, as mike tyson, charged with rape (in 1990) but was controversially cleared.
