according to the gospels of marK, matthew, luke and john (see any bible), jesus (also called josua or Yeshua) was a radical Jewish rabbi ('Teacher'), who preached in about 30 a.d., in what is now called israel or palestine. He was born in bethlehem and grew up in the northern province of galilea, in the city of nazareth, and is therefore sometimes mentioned to as 'nazarene'. Jesus was crucified by the romans, who at the time ruled the area, for inciting a revolt against their authority.
Jesus is now considered by many the messiah and the son of god, both divine and human. According to theologists, jesus' death on the cross symbolises the new testament (bound) between god and mankind. However, a historical proof of his existence has never been found.
